Daniel PERRIN, Optical Engineer, Ph.D. Founder & Chief Scientific Officer

With over 40 years of experience of industrial knowledge and scientific know-how in the deposition of thin films and electromagnetic shielding, Daniel PERRIN is the mastermind behind the company.

He has a degree from the Graduate School of Optics in Paris and a doctorate completed at the Marcoussis Laboratory, now CGE-ALSTHOM. In 1982, he joined SESO as an application engineer in charge of production where he created a new activity in optical thin films. The “Centre National des Etudes Spatiales” (CNES, French National Centre for Space Studies) awarded Daniel PERRIN with a medal for the Franco-Russian experiment known as the VEGA & GIOTTO missions related to Halley’s Comet. Daniel PERRIN founded Fact Optique in 1990 to provide high-precision optical processing for NASA, CNRS, CNES, Matra Marconi Space and “Office national d'études et recherches aérospatiales” (ONERA, French Aerospace Lab). Fact Optique was then bought out by Savcor in 1993, where he became R&D Director and General Manager for Savcor France, specialized in optical processing and electromagnetic shielding of mobile phones for Nokia and Sony Ericsson. Up until 2001, Daniel PERRIN has held various managerial positions in the Optics Department at SESO, being responsible for studying and developing the focal plane technology for the PLEIADES telescope.

He is a scientific advisor for the Popsud competitiveness cluster and the Optitec technoptics centre, in Marseille, in addition to being administrator and treasurer for the business incubator called “Marseille Innovation”.

Pierre CASANOVA, MBA, Chairman and CEO

Pierre Casanova is a founding partner of DDH-Partners. He has 15 years of international experience in financial strategy dealing with risk capital investment, mergers and takeovers.

Prior to Carewave Shielding Technologies, Pierre CASANOVA was Vice-Chairman at GE Capital in New York where he managed several mergers & takeovers all over the world for the company from 1994 to 1999. He then came to manage a venture capital team specialized in the media and new information technologies until 2004, dealing with about 40 different investments in start-ups and totaling $250 million.

In addition to being a founding partner of DDH-Partners, Pierre CASANOVA is also a committed director for companies such as Ekkyo, ATCG-Partners and Springeo, offering his unique experience in the strategy and management of high-tech start-ups.

He has a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Sussex (UK), a Master’s in Business Management from the IAE Graduate School of Management in Aix-en-Provence, and an MBA in International Finance from the Stern School of Management at New York University (USA).

Chun Chun GARBIT, Business Development Director

Chun Chun GARBIT has operational experience in international development, helping companies based in the Provence-Alpes-Côte D’Azur (PACA) region.

She was Business Development Director for the Marseille Group, CPECF, specialized in consulting and public accounting. She was responsible for international development projects focusing on partnership management in Shanghai. Prior to CPECF, she spent 4 years working for a company called Créations Artistiques, a professional cosmetics distribution company also involved in training makeup artists. She structured and repositioned the company’s strategic development priorities both in France and overseas. Before moving to France in 1997, she handled several cross-functional projects in collaboration with the managing team, while supervising an operational support team for Saatchi & Saatchi in Taiwan.

Chun Chun GARBIT has dual training in finance and management, with a Master’s in International Finance and another in Business Management from the IAE Graduate School of Management in Aix-en-Provence.

Denis LIOTTA

Denis LIOTTA is an entrepreneur who started out in the telephone and Internet business.

He is now at the head of the Mediaco Vrac Group and Chairman of the KTI Group, the European leader in global risk management. Denis LIOTTA joined Business Angels in 2004 via the company Maya Press. He has since continued to invest in different start-ups, including MonShowRoom.

Jean-Claude MULLER, Engineer from the Paris Ecole Centrale

Jean-Claude MULLER graduated from the Paris École Centrale and is a member of PBA. He has successively filled the positions of Director at Sollac Fos in 1987, Manager at Usinor Purchasing from 1995, CEO at Atics Services from 1997, and Vice-Chairman of ArcelorMittal Health & Safety from late 2000.

Jean-Claude MULLER was also an elected member of the Marseille Chamber of Commerce and Industry for two terms.

Philippe LECA

Having graduated from Euromed - ESC Marseille, France, Philippe LECA started his career as a financial auditor at Ernst & Young where he worked for five years. He then joined Gemalto (previously known as Gemplus) for another five years where he began as a Senior Financial Analyst at Corporate FP&A during the IPO process. From there he went on to work as a Regional Controller for North America in Dallas, Texas, USA. Back in France, he became the CFO for a video game publisher listed on the Canadian stock exchange.

Philippe LECA has also tested his entrepreneurial spirit in ventures and supporting start-ups.
